In February, the BFI hosts the annual Future Film Festival with a packed line up of workshops, masterclasses, networking opportunities, screenings and Q&As at BFI Southbank. Every session is designed to inspire and develop your film knowledge and skills. Young filmmakers are also invited to submit their short fiction, animation and documentary films for consideration at the Future Film Awards. The best films are shown during the Festival in front of a panel of industry experts who give feedback and advice.
Submissions for the 7th BFI Future Film Festival are now open!
This year, alongside the usual workshops, screenings and masterclasses, we also have six £500 prizes to give to our award winners! So, if you’re a young filmmaker of fiction, animation or documentary short films submit them to the 7th BFI Future Film Festival. If you’re film is selected we’ll screen it in one of our cinemas at BFI Southbank during the festival and you could be up for one of our awards where a panel of industry experts will give feedback and advice and you could win £500!
The awards are as follows:
Best Fiction (15-18 age category)
Best Fiction (19-25 age category)
Best Animation (15-18 age category)
Best Animation (19-25 age category)
Best Documentary (15-18 age category)
Best Documentary (19-25 age category)
To submit your film, follow the links and you'll be taken to the Ideastap brief for your category. Do note that the submissions for all age categories are combined, so don't panic about that - we'll sift through the applications and work out whether you're for the 15-18 or 19-25 block, just make sure you're in the right area!
Good luck, and hopefully we'll see you in February!
