Actors! Want to learn how to perform Shakespeare from the experts…?
We’ve teamed up with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre to offer an incredible training opportunity – and the chance to be seen by the casting teams of these two prestigious organisations.
We’re giving 24 members the chance to attend a once-in-a-lifetime boot camp weekend in Stratford-upon-Avon from 16 to 18 August 2013. The boot camp will consist of a series of workshops led by RSC practitioners like Lyn Darnley (Head of Text, Voice and Artist Development at the RSC) and Struan Leslie (Head of Movement). The workshops will focus on:
On top of all that, there’ll be tickets to go and see two evening performances of RSC productions. IdeasTap will cover the costs of travel and accommodation and meals will be provided.
As part of the application process, the RSC and RET casting departments will also be hosting a series of masterclasses in London and Manchester. Each masterclass is intended to offer invaluable insight into text, voice, movement and improvisation for classical productions.
This is how it will work:
Of the attendees, 100 of the best will then be asked to put the skills they’ve learnt into practice by filming and uploading a Shakespeare monologue to their IdeasTap profile. You’ll be informed if you are among the 100 by Wednesday 19 June. You will need to have uploaded your monologue by midday on Friday 28 June. The final 24 boot camp attendees will be selected and informed by Friday 12 July.
This brief closes at 5pm on Thursday 30th May and is open to IdeasTap members aged 18 and over. If you have any technical queries, please visit our Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
