It’s here: the biggest theatre brief of the year.

The 24 Hour Plays: Old Vic New Voices provides 38 actors, writers, directors and producers, aged 18-30, with the opportunity to create a play for The Old Vic stage, performed in front of 1,000 friends, family and industry VIPs. 

In just 24 hours, six original works are created from absolutely nothing by a group of talented emerging practitioners. And we want you to be one of them.

This riveting event has been wowing audiences for the last six years and has launched over 250 careers, securing agents, West End contracts, TV roles and commissions.

 

Past participants of The 24 Hour Plays: Old Vic New Voices have included:

Playwrights: Mike Bartlett (Chariots of Fire, Gielgud Theatre), Lucy Kirkwood (NSFW, Royal Court), Nick Payne (Electra, Gate Theatre) and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Belongings, Hampstead Theatre / West End, Aladdin, Lyric Hammersmith).

Actors: Iris Roberts (Duchess of Malfi, Old Vic Theatre) Charlotte Mills (Jerusalem, West End & Broadway), Nick Blakeley (Sunshine Boys, Savoy Theatre), Gethin Anthony (Game of Thrones, HBO), and Charity Wakefield (Mockingbird Lane, NBC).

Directors: Oli Rose (Associate Director, Chariots of Fire, Gielgud Theatre), Adam Lenson (Associate Director, Road Show, Menier Chocolate Factory and Ordinary Days, Trafalgar Studios), George Perrin and James Grieve (Artistic Directors, Paines Plough) Simon Evans (Resident Assistant Director, Donmar Warehouse).

Before applying you must be available on the following dates:

Preliminary audition days for actors: Monday 10 to Friday 14 September 2012. Actors will be required to select one of the audition days to attend.

Shortlisted audition day for actors: Monday 17 to Friday 21 September 2012. Actors will be allocated one of the audition days to attend.

Audition weekend: Thursday 27 OR Friday 28 September 2012

Bonding day: Thursday 18 October 2012

The 24 Hour Plays: Saturday 27 October 2012– 9.30pm onwards; Sunday 28 October – ALL DAY.

 

All applications are judged by a panel of theatre industry professionals.
