Description

Want to audition for Steve Winter, Director of Old Vic New Voices, creator and casting director of The 24 Hour Plays and the TS Eliot US/UK Exchange and the producer of numerous productions for The Old Vic?

We’re offering this masterclass opportunity to 10 IdeasTap members aged 16 to 20. [Please see this separate brief for 21-to-30 year olds.] You’ll be asked to prepare a short contemporary monologue of your choice, which Steve will critique. The session will also cover the pitfalls of auditioning, how to avoid them and ‘get the part’.

Steve has worked for The Old Vic for seven years, creating and producing four large-scale productions and commissioning over 60 plays. He’s the casting director for the entire OVNV programme and has discovered some of the most talented actors working in our industry today, as well as nurturing many directors, writers and producers.

This 75-minute session will take place on Wednesday 16 January from 4pm (TBC) at The Old Vic. All participants must have one contemporary two-minute monologue prepared and wear loose, comfortable clothing suitable for warm-up exercises.

This masterclass session is designed to give IdeasTap actor members who can demonstrate their commitment to pursuing acting as a profession, and want to learn how to improve their craft and technique, the confidence to audition, whether it be for OVNV, drama school or professional work.

This brief closes on Monday 7 January at midday and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 to 20. If you have any technical queries, please visit the help centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
