Description

Are you a budding director looking to collaborate with a new writer and then have your work shown at one of London’s best theatres? Read on…

Theatre Renegade’s bi-monthly Courting Drama event takes place at the Bush Theatre’s Attic space. It works like this: four writers “speed date” with four directors to find a new collaborative partner. Then, they work together to bring a 20-minute piece of new writing to life at the Bush.

After the success of their writing brief, Theatre Renegade will be offering one IdeasTap member the opportunity to become one of the four chosen directors that take part in the full process of Courting Drama. Previous writers and directors involved in Courting Drama have worked with companies including the Hampstead Theatre, National Theatre, Bush Theatre, HighTide, the Lowry, Royal Court Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Belt Up Theatre, Birmingham Rep, Paines Plough and Punchdrunk.

The chosen director must be based in, or near, London and the speed dating will take place on the evening of 7 July with the presentation of work on 27 July (all rehearsals will be negotiable and confirmed by the chosen pairing). All applicants need to be available for the specified dates.

A shortlist of directors will then be asked to attend an interview at London Bridge. One winner will then be selected.

This brief closes at 5pm on Tuesday 9 June and is open to IdeasTap members based in the UK aged 16 and above. If you have any technical queries, please visit the Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
