Interested in visual arts, creative marketing, arts education – or just looking for an opportunity to get creative this summer? Well, how’s this for a unique opportunity?
Our partners mac birmingham are looking for eight young people to sign up to their summer Cannon Hill Collective ARTIST ROOMS project.
As part of the project you will work with creative practitioner Kate Andrews, as well as with Cannon Hill Collective members and guest artists, to take on responsibility for developing the creative marketing and signposting of Robert Therrien’s ARTIST ROOMS summer exhibition at mac to new and existing audiences.
What’s more, you will have the opportunity to create your own original response to the exhibition, through your own exhibitions, live events and workshops.
The project will take place at mac birmingham.
Schedule
- Tuesday 22 April, 5pm to 6pm – Shortlisted members workshop
- Tuesday 29 April to Tuesday 20 May, 5pm to 8pm – Introduction to the project and work, plus workshops on curatorial practice, creative marketing, audience engagement, and other topics based on the experiences and interests of the group
- W/c 26 May until w/c 16 June – Project planning and creation (please note the dates and times of sessions will be negotiated at the first project meeting)
- July and August – Projects, exhibitions, and events will take place at mac and beyond (please note the dates and times will be negotiated during the early stages of the project)
There will also be negotiated days for visits and additional workshops throughout the project.
The winners of this brief will:
- Learn and develop new skills in curatorial practice, creative marketing and arts engagement and will take part in other workshops with professional artists.
- Work with artists, mac staff and other collaborators to create their own creative responses to Robert Therrien’s work which will be situated in the public spaces and beyond. This could include exhibitions, performances, live events and workshops.
- Be given the opportunity to visit exhibitions and other art spaces across Birmingham and the UK
- Receive £100 towards travel and expenses
