If all the world’s a stage, who’s writing the script? Well, you are.
Our lovely partners at HighTide Festival are giving you talented bunch of scribblers the chance to have your play produced at their brilliant theatre festival in Suffolk in May, 2013.
The HighTide Literary Department exists to discover and nurture exciting new plays by exceptional emerging writers and has quickly become an engine room for new writing in the UK.
They currently receive around 1,500 plays a year, all of which are read and considered for production at the annual HighTide Festival in Suffolk.
If you’re a writer and would like to send your script to HighTide, then the Literary Department is your first port of call. They are particularly looking for bold plays that engage with the world we live in, and share contemporary experience through playful theatricality. HighTide are looking for full length new plays, not previously produced. This brief is the only way to submit a play for production at the HighTide Festival, and we will happily accept scripts in English from writers around the world.
All you need to do is read the terms and conditions, check that your script is eligible and then upload it in response to the brief. For further instruction on how to apply, see the How to Respond tab, top right.

This brief closes on Friday 2 November 2012 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 or over. The brief will reopen on Monday 5th November. How to respond
First of all, make sure you have downloaded and read the Terms and Conditions. Once you are sure that your script is eligible:
1. Apply by clicking Follow this brief in the left-hand column.
2. Click Apply now in the yellow box on the left. This will take you to a page headed Submit Your Response.
3. Enter the title of your script
4. Please give a synopsis of your play in 100 words or less.
5. Upload your script and press Submit. Make sure it is saved as a.doc, not a .docx, file.
6. To support your application make sure you have included a one-page CV, writer profile and biography in your IdeasTap portfolio as supporting material.
7. You must have a photo uploaded to your profile, although it doesn't need to be a headshot and you won't be judged on the quality.
Entries will be judged by Rob Drummer, Literary Manager of HighTide and a team of experienced script readers.
Before you submit a play, look at the writers HighTide have worked with in the past and the projects they have developed.
Please do not send screenplays, treatments, radio plays, prose or poetry as HighTide do not produce work in adaptation or for non-live performance. HighTide also rarely produce historical drama or biographical work unless these allow us a new perspective on contemporary life.
