Description

Calling all would-be news filmmakers in London... BBC London is offering IdeasTap members the chance to produce a short news feature about the Olympics (no longer than 2 minutes) for potential broadcast on their BBC1 6.30pm programme.

Successful participants will receive professional support, and their work will be reviewed by BBC London teams. The aim is to create an original TV report from your perspective about a Olympic story that is suitable for BBC London TV news and the BBC London webpages.

You will need to be an individual or small group (max 3 people) aged between 16-25. You will be offered mentoring from filmmakers whilst you complete the project.

Please Note: Applicants must be trained in film production. You will be expected to film and edit the report yourself. There is no guarantee that the content will be used by the BBC.

Pitches will be chosen that reflect stories connected to the Olympics from the perspective of young people in London. They should be original and be of interest to the BBC London audience. Filmmakers must demonstrate experience at camera operation and editing. Participants must be willing to travel to London to take part.

Hi help please! I have submitted four pitches and got the confirmation note that they had been submitted but only the first is showing. Any ideas? Will they appear after a delay? The first showed immediately. Thanks

Hi Sita,

1. It is possible to pitch two stories by applying twice. Just make sure you make it clear in the titles of your applications: ie. something like "First pitch" and "Second pitch", so we know you haven't submitted the same thing twice by mistake.

2. There is no target date, but roughly speaking, it's in the next three months.

Hi. Two questions: 1. Is it possible to pitch a few different news story ideas, and if so how would I do this? Would they all have to fit within the 100 word limit, or is there a way of pitching more than once? (2) What is the target date for making the film, as some of my ideas are time sensitive? Thanks

Hi amr2010,

Yes, I can confirm that we have some camera equipment at IdeasTap that the winner can borrow - all they would have to do is leave a passport with us as a deposit.

You are welcome to submit any ideas - even if you’ve already made them. You still need to submit a 100-word summary and I would also recommend you put the film clearly labeled in your portfolio.

i just wanted to have some more info on the bbc brief. i have allready produced a short news feature about the Olympics, filmed and edit by my own crew and covers the bbc brief, is that able to be directly submitted,?
