Description

Hey, film makers! Want to shoot the making of a magazine? And get paid £500?

For one week at the beginning of March, LIFT will team up with Boat Magazine to produce a 32-page tabloid newspaper edition of Boat, all about the city of Derry-Londonderry, the City of Culture for 2013

And we are looking for a team of 1-3 IdeasTap members to capture the whole process. You will be flown out to Derry to film the Boat Magazine team as they write, shoot, go to print and distribute 5,000 copies across the city. The finished film will be between two and five minutes long.

You will cover everything from interviews, meets and greets, going to print and distribution, as well as getting a few shots of Derry to use as fillers. The winning members will need to bring their own equipment and produce the final edit of the film. Sound equipment is not a requirement as it is expected the film will have a backing track for the duration.

The schedule

Saturday - shoot LIFT and Boat's arrival in Derry

Monday - accompany Boat to interview and tour of Derry

Tuesday - accompany on a group project and photo essay

Wednesday - shoot the final editorial stages

Thursday - shoot going to the printers

Friday - shoot the paper being printed

Saturday - shoot distribution

Shooting the design stages back in London shouldn't take more than an hour one day in the following week.

You can watch a previous example from Boat, which has been nominated for a VELOBerlin Film Award 2013.

The winner will join LIFT and Boat in Derry from Saturday 2 to Saturday 9 March, so please make sure you are available on those dates and have a valid passport before you apply. There will then be a final day of shooting at Boat Studio in London.

Travel costs, accommodation and per diems for the film-makers will all be covered and the winner will receive a fee of £500 for producing the short.

The winner will also be given tickets to the first large-scale performance event of Derry 2013 presented by LIFT; Political Mother: Derry Londonderry Uncut by Hofesh Shechter Company at the end of the week.
