Description

The National Youth Theatre is looking for 12 committed NYT members to form their own brand new company, the NYT REP, from January until October 2012.

Note: This brief is open to all current and recent ex-members of National Youth Theatre aged 18-25.

Drama school and university fees are continuing to rise, but NYT is launching a company that will offer 10 months of unique vocational, project-based training to successful candidates looking to plot alternative routes into the industry.

This exclusive opportunity includes partnerships with some of the most exciting theatre companies in London and nationwide, as well as the opportunity to take part in a tour to China in partnership with the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre.

Along with regular masterclasses, mentoring and training sessions with high-profile artists, the REP will develop new work for a scratch season at the West End’s Criterion Theatre, film a feature-length documentary, record a radio drama and work with Shine Drama on television acting skills.

The NYT REP is open to NYT members who can demonstrate commitment to the cause. In return, we offer the ultimate route into the creative industries.

Eligibility:

This is an invitation-only brief, open to all current and recent ex-members of National Youth Theatre aged 18-25. If you are a current or recent ex-member but have not received an invite, please email rep@nyt.org.uk and we will send you an invite.

To take part in this opportunity, you MUST be fully available from January to October 2012. Unfortunately we are unable to provide accommodation, travel or living costs during your time with the REP, but the schedule will permit part-time work to help you afford the cost of living in London.

Auditions will be held in London at the end of November. To audition for the REP you must prepare a two-minute monologue of your choice and a song (if you are comfortable singing). There will also be a movement workshop and interview incorporated into the selection process. We are only able to offer up to 12 places.

For details of how to apply, click on the How to respond tab above.

This brief closes on Wednesday 16 November at 1pm.
