Description

Wanna make films? Then wrap your square eyes around the Roundhouse Online Film Fund at once.

This brilliant bursary will give emerging filmmakers everything they need to transform their online film ideas into realities: a £400 production budget, the use of equipment and facilities, and mentoring from the Roundhouse broadcast team.

That’s right – you’ll get three months, £400 and all the equipment you could need to create your own short film for an online platform. And that film can be anything you like, from narrative, to animation, documentary or video art.

The Roundhouse is looking for an exciting, innovative and highly visual treatment, as well as a strong concept and awareness of what an online audience is looking for. This fund, along with the mentoring and expertise of the Roundhouse team, will take your work to the next level.

The films must be no longer than 10 minutes and deliverable within three months, and within budget.

This brief will close at 5pm on Wednesday 30 May and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16-25. If you have any technical queries, please visit the help centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.

  • Hi Joe,
It's coming up as error no file submitted each time I upload my file.

Please can you confirm whether or not it's been received? It's the last upload that I want to submit. The 10:16 one.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Henrietta and Martyn - Yep, thanks for letting us know.

Steven - As long as you are within easy reach of London then feel free to apply. It's purely for the practicality of being able to utilise the facilities and resources. If you're based too far away then this probably isn't the right fund for you, unless you've got someone you can stay with.

  • Is it absolutely definite that you need to live in London? Or would it be OK if you wanted to travel to London to complete the production?

  • They have pretty much all the equipment you'd need. Lighting - red heads, softboxes, nifty DSLR shoulder mount, Figrig, Tascam etc. You may want to rent a couple of prime lenses. I'd say go to them with a solid script or treatment at the very least - it will make your project easier to visualise - storyboards might also prove valuable. I never used to believe in them but on a recent, more ambitious project, honestly couldn't have directed without them. Having a predetermined principal cast member also inspires confidence. Check out the previous projects and tell them what you can do that's even better - mine was Urban Spiritual but I would say the best short made at the Roundhouse so far is Emma by animator Matthew Lawes.

  • Thanks Joe.

Also, I assume other equipment like mics, lighting etc will be availble? Cheers.
