Description

The National Student Drama Festival is running a series of three amazing movement workshops led by Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, STOMP and Lucy Hind.

And you could win yourself a place on one of them.

The workshops will take place from Tuesday 26 February - Friday 8 March at Sheffield Theatres and will lead towards a short performance on the final night of this year's National Student Drama Festival, on the 29 March.

What the hell, NSDF will even throw in a £40 gift for each of the participants after the performance and provide your coach travel from Sheffield to Scarborough.

Participants are not required to have any dance or percussion experience for these workshops, and we’re looking for people interested in learning something new or expanding an existing skill. They are also suitable for any discipline, whether you’re an actor, director or dancer.

LUCY HIND

Lucy trained in South Africa and was a member of First Physical Theatre Company. She has been a member of the award winning Slung Low since 2006, with whom she has made work at the Lowry, Almeida, Liverpool Everyman and the Barbican. Lucy was on the team of choreographers for the London 2012 Paralympics Opening Ceremony. In 2013 Lucy is touring the award-winning Extra-Ordinary with dancer David Toole.

NEW ADVENTURES

NEW ADVENTURES is the UK’s most in demand contemporary Dance/Theatre touring company. Under the inspired leadership of Artistic Director, Matthew Bourne, it has, over the last 25 years, changed the landscape of British dance with an award-winning repertory of works that have brought unprecedented new audiences to theatres throughout the UK and internationally.

STOMP WORKSHOPS

Yes/No Productions have been running Stomp workshops young people for over five years. As a theatre production, Stomp is constantly touring the world, and employs performers of many different nationalities, giving them the opportunity to offer workshops across the globe in a number of different languages. They have a core of workshop leaders drawn from past and existing ‘Stompers’, who have previous teaching experience and a strong commitment to giving young people access to music.
