Description

Our columnist Jamie has given us six months of solid entertainment: from regaling us with stories of girls sketching his torso on napkins (don’t ask – just read) to his views on The Beeb, Big Brother and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

We’re really, really sad he’s going but time’s up and we need one of YOU to step forward and take the reins. Yup, that’s right, we need a new columnist and it could be you.

We're looking for an aspiring writer who's not short of opinions when it comes to arts and pop culture. So whatever the big arts story is each week, we want to hear your take on it.

Sometimes we'll have specific subjects we want you to think about, other times we'll be looking for you to take the lead.

We need the winner to be able to deliver one 500-word column a week, and we'll pay £125 per column. Initially it'll be a two-month trial (so eight columns) but if successful the column will carry on for six months, before we run this brief again.

We want to see an example of the sort of piece you might write for us - so around 500 words on a topical cultural issue that you think IdeasTap members would be interested in. We also want to see two short proposals for other column ideas. You can also include examples of previous published or unpublished work in your portfolio.

When submitting a response to this brief, please make sure that you have a photo on your profile page. It doesn't need to be a headshot and you won't be judged on the quality of your photo - as with all the briefs on the site you have to have a profile photo to be eligible.
