Description

Are you fascinated by the city at night? Would you like to be part of an unusual journey through the metropolis? Have a butcher’s at this…

Working with Ideas Tap, all-round creative Inua Ellams presents the first Midnight Run of 2013.

What is a Midnight Run? Good question. Inua leads participants on a pre-planned exploratory ramble through London at night. It is carefully designed to show a side, and a way of viewing the city, that most people never get to experience. Along the way, Inua will challenge the 'runners' to create theatre, poetry and performances alongside professionals in unusual settings at unusual times. You might be spun a yarn by a storyteller in an abandoned basketball court, or take part in a session with a tai chi master as the sun rises over the Thames, you get the picture.

Inua would like five IdeasTap members to join the run. He’s looking for five London-based artists or performers to share their talents and set short creative tasks for the 'runners'. He’d also like you to eventually create work based on the event. He hopes to find:

  • a magician
  • a photographer
  • a storyteller
  • a tai chi instructor
  • a filmmaker

Each of these artists will be paid a fee of £100, apart from the filmmaker who will be paid £200.

Starting at 6pm on 16 August 2013, and finishing at 6am the following morning, this run will explore themes of narrative within urban life.

You can watch videos of previous Midnight Runs here.

This brief closes at 5pm on Wednesday 31 July and is open to all IdeasTap members of any age. If you have any technical queries, visit the Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
