Description

The Anthology is back! This is your chance to create your very own online magazine with a £2,000 budget.

We first launched this opportunity way back in January 2012, when film collective Brain Wash won with their disturbing, Videodrome-inspired zine, Long Live the New Flesh.

Next up were The New Wolf with New Cartography, their beautiful journal exploring mapping and the urban environment.

The third Anthology brief saw us fund TWO publications: La Boi Band’s 90s pop teen-inspired zine exploring race, sexuality and gender, and theatre mag Off Stage, which detailed all the yuks, japes, and high jinks that goes on in the production of a play.

Now we’re looking for another group aged 16 to 30 with a strong editorial vision to create a brand new publication.

You must apply as a group of three or more people. You can be from any creative background – illustration, animation, film, literature, photography, performing arts. We want this to be a multidisciplinary production, within the limitations of an online PDF format.

The subject you choose to explore is up to you – but we’ll be looking for a clear, coherent theme that will be relevant to the IdeasTap audience. We’ll also expect you to involve our members in the production process through call-outs on the site – part of the funding should be used to commission members for contributions.

Winners will receive £2,000 support from the IdeasTap team (editorial, marketing and digital) and a permanent home on our website. You’ll then have three months to design and produce your anthology.

Along the way, you’ll also be expected to create some “making-of” content, to live on your IdeasTap partner page, so that others can learn from your experience. We’ll upload it for you and create the page on IdeasTap, but you’ll be expected to document the process, in video, images or text.

What we’re looking for:

  • Applications from groups (minimum of three people, preferably more)
  • An interesting, original theme with a clear content plan
  • A defined strategy to involve IdeasTap members and find contributors
  • Applicants who we believe can deliver and who will be able to effectively manage the budget

For advice on how to set up a magazine, read our article including tips from the experts, and of course you can check out previous winners’ publications to get an idea of the sort of thing you could produce.

This brief closes on Thursday 21 November 2013 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 to 30 based in the UK. Before applying, please download and read the Terms and Conditions. If you have any technical queries, please visit our Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
