The National Theatre are looking for playful, curious and collaborative young artists from a broad range of theatre and non-theatremaking disciplines including (but not limited to) designers, graphic designers, make-up artists, fashion designers, lyricists, music producers, circus performers, fine artists, animators, digital artists and dancers.

For this project, we would particularly welcome applications from people interested in lighting and lighting design.

The National Theatre Young Studio is giving up to 10 IdeasTap members the opportunity to spend two weeks collaborating with National Theatre professionals. You’ll have the space, time and resources to prepare your very own scratch performance to be presented at the end of the two weeks.

For its fourth season, National Theatre Young Studio is creating a new piece of work (working title The Shape of the Impossible) to be performed for one night only in The Shed, the National Theatre’s temporary venue celebrating new theatre that is adventurous, ambitious and unexpected.

You will be collaborating with other young artists with a variety of theatremaking skills and with a professional director, writer, choreographer and sound designer to help create the piece.

The NT are looking for playful, curious and collaborative young artists from a broad range of theatre and non-theatremaking disciplines including (but not limited to) designers, graphic designers, make-up artists, fashion designers, lyricists, music producers, circus performers, fine artists, animators, digital artists and dancers.

Young Studio will take the form of an intensive production period running between Monday 5 and Monday 19 August, 10am to 6pm, with possible evenings. The group will work towards putting on a scratch performance of work on Monday 19 August.

All applicants must be able to commit to all dates of Young Studio sessions. 

This brief closes on Monday 29 July 2013 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members based in London aged 16 to 21. If you have any technical queries, please visit the Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
