We're giving one photographer the chance to have their work reviewed by a staff member at Magnum Photos. Their work will be showcased on IdeasTap for a month and will be seen by thousands of visitors, including senior members of Magnum staff. They'll receive personal feedback and careers advice from Marine Mérindol, development manager for corporate and special projects in Paris at Magnum Photos.

New year, new Magnum Showcase brief!

Would you like to have your photographs reviewed by a Magnum photographer? And then have them viewed by the thousands of visitors to this here website – as well as by senior members of the Magnum team? How about some personal feedback and career advice from a Magnum photographer on top of all that?

Continuing Magnum’s commitment to emerging photographers, the Magnum Showcase briefs are an opportunity for IdeasTap members to have a recent body of work reviewed by a Magnum photographer or senior staff member, showcased on IdeasTap’s website and followed up by some feedback and advice from the judge on the development of your work.

The Magnum judge for this brief is Marine Mérindol, development manager for corporate and special projects in Paris at Magnum Photos.

All you need to do is upload a strong, concise edit of 10 to 20 images on the following theme to your IdeasTap portfolio, along with 100 words explaining your project.

So, what’s this month’s theme?

FAMILY PORTRAIT

You are free to interpret this as you see fit. You could take it literally, or use it as a starting point and let your imagination do the rest. 

Terms and conditions

  1. When judging, Magnum will consider innovation, creativity, technical ability and conception. They will also bear age in mind when judging entries, considering how advanced the work is for an applicant’s level of experience.
  2. Magnum will also consider how you interpret and respond imaginatively to the theme.
  3. Applicants should be able to clearly articulate and contextualise their projects, and submit a strong and concise edit for consideration.
  4. All submissions should have been shot in the last six months. 

This brief closes on Friday 14 February 2014 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 to 30. If you have any technical queries, please visit the Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.

  • Hi, I just wanted to know if the images should be of a secuence with one family, or can be differents photos of families?
