The 24 Hour Plays: Old Vic New Voices provides 38 actors, writers, directors and producers, aged 18-30, with the opportunity to create a play for The Old Vic stage, performed in front of 1,000 friends, family and industry VIPs.
In just 24 hours, six original works are created from absolutely nothing by a group of talented emerging practitioners. And we want you to be one of them.
This riveting event has been wowing audiences for the last six years and has launched over 250 careers; securing agents, West End contracts, TV roles and commissions.

All applications are judged by a panel of theatre industry professionals.

How to respond

The application process has changed this year. This is now a three-step application process – you must follow all three of the steps below or your application will not be eligible.
Step 1) Click Follow this brief in the left-hand column. You’ll only see this option if you’re signed in to IdeasTap.
Step 2) Fill out the online application form here. Remember, once you’ve completed the application form, your application is NOT complete. You must then return to this page and follow step 3.
Step 3) Click Apply now in the left-hand column of this page. This will take you to a page headed Submit your response – simply follow the instructions on this page and click Submit. You will only see the Apply now button if you’re logged in to IdeasTap and have completed Step 1.
Additional information:
Please make sure you have a photo on your profile page. It doesn't need to be a headshot and you won't be judged on the quality of this picture – but as with all briefs on IdeasTap you have to have a profile picture to be eligible.
You must be aged 18-30 on Sunday 28 October 2012 to be eligible. You may be asked to provide a piece of photo ID at your audition.
To complete the online application form, you will need the following information to hand because you cannot save the application form mid-way through the process:
• Personal details (name, age, contact details etc)
• Record of directing-related training and development since you were 16. Please include year completed (or planned year of completion), provider and qualification gained.
• Record of directing experience – please list up to six productions you have directed or assistant directed, including year of production, your role (lead/assistant), title of production, playwright and venue.
• Your approach as a director – the process you will use if selected to get from page to stage in just eight hours (100 words maximum)
• Your opinion on the industry – what is your opinion of new writing in Britain in the last 10 years? (200 words maximum)
• Name and contact details for a referee
