Description
Whether you’re a seasoned visual communicator or a creative who dabbles in doodles for fun, we have an absolutely cracking brief for you!
Exploring Drawing is a series of five drawing sessions led by Creative Space residents Owen Pomery and Rosie Gainsborough. Each session will cover a classic area of drawing – figure, still life, portrait and urban landscape – with a secondary theme being introduced alongside.
The emphasis is less on improving your drawing ability and more about encouraging you to think differently about what you are trying to record and explore new approaches to visual representation. There are spaces for 10 IdeasTap members to attend. Beginners are welcome, as are experienced artists and those from other disciplines seeking exposure to different strategies and ways of working.
The course will take place every three weeks from 14 August at three locations: IdeasTap in London Bridge, the British Museum and a central London location (meeting at the Royal Festival Hall). Every week there will be a short presentation introducing the subject, drawing time with exercises set by the facilitators, and a “homework” assignment to encourage continuing practice between sessions.
To apply for a place, tell us in 100 words max why you should be picked to take part and what you hope to get out of doing so. Please also include links to creative work – from any discipline, not necessarily drawing – in your IdeasTap portfolio. We’re looking for people who have commitment, focus and a positive attitude, not necessarily technical drawing ability.
Applicants must be able to commit to all five sessions below.
