Description

Let there be light!

The UK’s premier supplier of creative lighting, White Light, is teaming up with our lovely partners the National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural, to offer a Skills Academy open day for emerging creatives contemplating a design or technical career in the entertainment lighting industry.

The open day will take place on Friday 27 April 2012 from 11am-4pm, at their south London Warehouse.

This open day will give you hands-on access to some of the latest lighting products from manufacturers such as Robert Juliat, MA Lighting and Martin, as well as a chance to tour the comprehensive facilities available at White Light. Visitors will also be able to meet industry experts and gain careers advice from a number of leading figures from theatres, rental companies, manufacturers and drama schools.

The day ends with a keynote speaker talking about their life and work in lighting. Previous speakers have included the lighting designers Natasha Chivers, Rick Fisher and Paule Constable. All have had multi-faceted careers leading to enormous critical acclaim (including an Olivier Award!).

This brief has been planned with Further Education students in mind, but will have elements that are useful for any technical students looking to gain a greater knowledge of equipment and the work of an installation company.

This brief closes on Friday 13 April. If you have any technical queries, email info@ideastap.com. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
