Description

Can you dream up a viral that will capture a million hits?

We’ve got together with award-winning production house toast to offer IdeasTap members aged 16 to 30 the chance to get a 30-second script developed into the next viral sensation.

The winner will get to work alongside commercial and viral director Stuart Fryer and the toast team to bring their script idea to life.

For a shot at winning this amazing competition, submit the application form (including your script) and upload your CV and supporting visuals to your IdeasTap portfolio. We’re looking for a fresh idea that plays out in 30 seconds – that entertains, wows, amazes, amuses, shocks, and gets passed on because of its brilliance and creative uniqueness. The winner will be announced on 7 September 2012.

The rules

  • Entrants must be aged 16 to 30.
  • The script must fit into a 30-second time slot.
  • The viral must be suitable for all ages.
  • The viral must be able to be shot in London in one day.

More about Stuart Fryer – director

Stuart got his lucky break when he struck up a friendship with the management of the band Oasis, going on to make their first commercial and the music video for the track Some Might Say. He then joined the agency Cunning Stunts as a music video director, where he got together with two creatives and produced the infamous VW “Suicide Bomber” viral that gained him instant notoriety and 28 million hits. He has since gone on to make virals and commercials for leading brands such as GHD, Sony, Cadbury’s and Lynx.

  • I think we are going to have to wait a little longer to know the results. Toast has announced on their blog that they are still reviewing entries.

    Have a look: http://www.toasttv.blogspot.co.uk/

I found the viral tips from the jury very good, unfortunately I only saw them after I entered my idea.

  • Ok Mariana, here's what Jeremy (the producer / competition judge) says:

    - happy to have a producer in the mix
    - one day filming in london is the main caveat but also the creative may have to be talked through if there are obvious budget concerns, ie opening scene "we see the army coming up over the hill"
    - Toast will be supplying all crew, kit, editing facilities

Hope that helps! Best of luck.x

  • Hi Mariana,

I've passed on your questions regarding the production crew / budget to Jeremy and he will get back to me ASAP. But what I can say is that yes you can submit it to festivals! You actually keep the production at the end of it, so you can do what you like with it - it's yours entirely. Although we retain the right to use it for our own promotional purposes.

    Best,
    Vicky

  • Hi Vicky,

I have a couple more questions for you...

I have been working on a Viral idea with a couple more people, one of them a Producer. Would she still be able to see it through?

Would you have a budget we would be working with?

Can we bring in our preferred crew members? Would we have to use your facilities? What facilities would you be able to offer?

Once the film is complete will we be able to submit it to festivals?

    Many thanks,

    Mariana
