Description

When our Write to Shine brief first launched earlier this year, it exceeded all expectations.

The 10-week masterclass in script development gave rise to National Youth Theatre’s collaborative theatre piece Our Days of Rage at The Old Vic Tunnels, which was described by Time Out as “the zeitgeist-grabbing production of the summer.”

In partnership with the National Youth Theatre and Shine Drama (creators of Merlin, Sugar Rush, Hex and Demons) we’re launching Write to Shine again, and we’re looking for six committed stage and screenwriters from the IdeasTap community.

All scripts will be read and marked, and the six winners will be invited to join a 10-week series of workshops for theatre and television, with advice on how to pitch to commissioners and how to guide a story from conception to delivery.

To apply, you’ll need to submit a script no longer than 15 pages. There are no thematic guidelines but do familiarise yourself with the type of work NYT produce.

Scripts can be self-contained scenes, a single or multiple story or an extract from a longer script. Your script should be pasted into your application form.

You’ll need to be available for workshops in January/February 2012 for 10 weeks, held on weekends in central London.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we will not be able to offer feedback on scripts.

This brief is open to 17-to-30-year-olds. It closes on Thursday 3 November at 5pm.
