Judging

Description

Back in August, Nell Frizzell beat 315 other writers to win the title of official IdeasTap columnist. Since then, she has shared her thoughts on everything from suburbia and lonely hearts to toffs and cock-ups.

We absolutely love Nell’s way with words, and judging by your reactions, so do you. In fact, we like her so much that we’ve gone and given her a job as an assistant editor on IdeasTap. After wading through nearly 200 applications for the role – and interviewing some fantastic candidates – she came out on top once again, and will be joining the IdeasTap team in a few weeks.

As Nell will soon be working full-time at IdeasTap, we have reopened The Columnist brief, sooner than expected.

Are you passionate about the arts, culture and current affairs? Do you have opinions to spare – and a talent for writing? We’re after a brilliant wordsmith who will make their mark on the IdeasTap community. Not only that, but we’ll pay the winner £125 per column.

The winning columnist will have to deliver one 500-word column every week. Initially, it will be a two-month trial, but if successful, he/she will keep their gig for six months – after which, we’ll run the brief again.

To apply, please send us an example of a 500-word column that will interest our members, plus two ideas for further columns. If you like, you can also include examples of your work in your portfolio, but you’ll be primarily judged on your submitted piece.

Please make sure that you have a photo on your profile page. It doesn't need to be a headshot and you won't be judged on the quality of your photo, but as with all the briefs on the site, you have to have a profile photo to be eligible.
