About The White Review

The White Review is an arts and literature quarterly edited by Benjamin Eastham and Jacques Testard. Launched in February 2011, it was established on a non-profit economic model and conceived as a platform to promote new and contemporary writing and art, and to bring new work by emerging writers and artists to a wider audience. It takes its name and a degree of inspiration from La Revue Blanche, a Parisian magazine which ran from 1889 to 1903. It publishes short stories, essays, poetry, reportage, interviews with prominent writers and artists, photography and artwork. The White Review also publishes a monthly online issue with usually web-only content.

Writers and artists interviewed since the launch of the first issue include Paula Rego, William Boyd, Will Self, Marina Warner, Elmgreen & Dragset, Brian Dillon, Juergen Teller and Ahdaf Soueif; prominent writers and artists featured in its pages include Joshua Cohen, JH Engström, Gabriele Beveridge, Badaude, Federico Falco, Michael Horovitz and Deborah Levy.

Find out more on their website.

Please note: one entry is allowed per writer. Stories must be unpublished – both in print and online.

  • Hi there, I have been trying to submit mine since 5 to 5 but its just continually saying its saving and not confirming anything. I have to go out now. I will leave my PC on and see if it goes through correctly. I hope it will. I'm a freelancer and only had 15mins to nip home and try and get it in on time.

  • Hi Joe,
I submitted my application twice as I didn't know we had to insert our short story link- then I think I inserted it incorrectly! D'oh! I'm sorry for my lack of computer skills- can you let me know if you have received the story alright? It's on my portfolio under the title short story- is this okay, and am I still accepted? Thanks so much for your help in advance,
    Louise

  • Hi Joe, when I submitted first I forgot to add a link to my submission, so I have resubmitted with a proper entry. My submission at 16:28 is therefore unnecessary and can either be deleted or ignored. Thanks!

  • Hi Veronica,

Everything looks fine, don't worry if you're a little over the word limit.

  • This is the first time I've submitted something for a brief. Although I was definitely under 100 words about me, the box continuously said I was over this word limit no matter how I cut it down. I eventually just submitted it - cut it down any more and the english would be awful - so I'm mentioning this in case 'apparently' going over this limit would have discounted my submission.

  • Hi,
On 'How to respond' there isn't a number 4, it simply skips to 5. Is that correct, I just cover the points that are there. 123 567?

    Thanks

  • I've put a bitly link to the set on my portfolio which the short story is in, rather than a direct link as I wasn't too sure it would work? Hope that's okay. It's the only item in that set, but thought I'd flag it up anyway.

  • I am a bit fed up of being excluded from things because I am 33. It's plain old ageism in action.
