TS Eliot US/UK Exchange US Playwrights

  1. The Brief
  2. How to respond

Description

This brief is for US-based playwrights only. Applications for UK-based directors, producers and actors will open in April 2012. Please read this PDF for more information.

Do you want to showcase your talent, develop new creative contacts and broaden your artistic horizons? Are you an American writer with a play that would be just perfect on the British stage? Do you want to come to London to seek your fortune? Then the TS Eliot US/UK Exchange is for you.

This year Old Vic New Voices will complete a three-year search to find the very best American and UK talent by showcasing six new American plays in London for the first time.

Old Vic New Voices wants to find exciting, ambitious plays by American-based playwrights that would benefit from having a showcase in London. These plays must also have the potential to make it big in British theatres.

The successful plays will be performed, produced and directed by our OVNV Talent pool as part of a two-week London showcase in June 2012.

OVNV will cover flight costs to London for the second week of the showcase so that you can meet agents, programmers and other industry professionals who may be interested in taking your work elsewhere in the UK.

For full information of what we're offering, read the What We’re Offering PDF.

This brief closes on Friday 16 March 2012 at 5pm and is open to American-based IdeasTap members aged 18 - 30.

If you have any technical queries, email info@ideastap.com. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.

  • How as the London base performers do we apply, will there be a notification under opportunities?

  • I was very much looking forward to applying for this opportunity and, like others, believed the deadline to be 5:00 pm today. I worked on the downloaded application form over the weekend and was extremely disappointed when I signed on earlier today and believed I'd missed my chance, but then a friend alerted me that the brief actually closed at 10:00 pm today. Have I missed the chance to apply? I have heard only the best things about the TS Eliot US/UK Exchange and would be grateful for the opportunity to be considered. Is there any chance you will accept late applications, due to the confusion with the deadlines? Thank you for your time.

  • I uploaded twice because I think the first time I responded, the application form didn't attach itself to the brief. Sorry for the double submission.

  • hello - I downloaded the application which said that it was due on the 19th, not the 16th, and so I haven't submitted it yet. I really really want to apply... will you accept a late application because the document says the 19th?

  • Sorry to say - I've found ideastap difficult to work with, so I downloaded the application form and have been working with that. As others have stated, the deadline on that form is 3/19 at 5pm, so I was dismayed to find my way onto the site today to discover that my efforts to put together the application have gone to waste. I have been looking forward to applying - it is a fantastic opportunity and I have had friends who have praised the program to the hills. I have not left the application to the last minute - I set aside this weekend to complete this, as well as others. If there's anyway to extend the deadline to 3/19 at 5pm as stated on the application form, it would be very much appreciated.

  • The application form says the deadline is the 19th of March. Are you accepting "late" applications because of the typo on the application?

  • I was confused by the misprint of the deadline. When I went to go submit it this evening I saw it had passed and was earlier today. The deadline was listed as March 19 on both the info pdf and the application.....
