Description

Love photographing live performance and colourful environments? We’re about to make your day…

The world-renowned Pleasance Theatre Trust is offering one young photographer the opportunity to create the 2013 Edinburgh Picture Show at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The winning photographer will get:

  • £800 prize money;
  • accommodation;
  • exhibition space throughout the Pleasance site;
  • access to a photographic printer, photographic paper and desk space.

Since 2009 Pleasance has produced a photographic exhibition and visual journal of the August celebrations.

The Edinburgh Picture Show embodies the creative energy coming out of the Pleasance, shining a spotlight on the stars of the festival. Throughout the month, the formal exhibition will grow across the venue walls, while some of the best images will be projected in large format in both Pleasance venues.

This year we’re looking to make the Picture Show bigger and better.

We’re seeking a creative emerging photographer, who’s at an early stage in their career and needs to build up their portfolio, to record some of the best acts and theatre in the world, at the festival’s biggest and most vibrant venue.

The selected photographer will capture intimate backstage shots, artists in action, and public life in the buzzing venues. They can expect to shoot a mixture of reportage and staged pieces. A daily selection of the best images will be delivered each day of the festival for use online and throughout the venue.

This brief will close at 5pm on Friday 24 May 2013 and is open to IdeasTap members aged 18 and over. If you have any technical queries, please visit the Help Centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.
