Description

Are you a filmmaker based in the Midlands – or from the Midlands? Are you aged 16-30? Would you like your short film to be screened at the UK’s biggest free arts festival?

Hell yes? Then this is the brief for you.

Our partner mac birmingham is looking for short films to be screened at ArtsFest 2012 this September. The screenings will take place at mac birmingham over the festival weekend, when thousands of visitors will descend on the venue to enjoy over 600 free events, featuring everything from ballet to Bhangra, dub poetry to indie rock – and, of course, your short films.

There are no restrictions on subject matter, but the films must be suitable for all ages – so equivalent to a PG certificate. See full terms and conditions below.

Find out how to apply by clicking on the How to respond tab above.

The Next Generation strand at mac birmingham celebrates work made by, with and for young people – to discover and nurture the next generation of creative talent.

Terms and conditions:

1. Up to three submissions per person.

2. Films must be between 30 seconds and eight minutes long.

3. This brief is open to IdeasTap members, from or based in the Midlands, aged between 16 and 30 years old.

4. For the selection process, your film must be uploaded to your IdeasTap portfolio. If selected, the film will need to be submitted on DVD to Amy Smart, mac birmingham, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, B12 9QH by Friday 7 September.

5. Content must be suitable for all ages (equivalent PG certificate).

6. The films will be screened on a loop at various times on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September, times to be confirmed.

This brief closes at 5pm on Wednesday 29 August. If you have any technical queries, please visit the help centre. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.

  • Hi Chrissie yes you can use sound if you want to. If you haven't made the music yourself you need to make sure you have the rights to it.
