Agnes and Charles, a script both absurd and cruel, about the trials and tribulations of a married couple mourning the death of a discus fish
Agnes, ill and prone to hypochondria plays a sadomasochistic game with her husband Charles. The latter is an avid reader, cynical and somewhat bitter. In a state of fragility & hallucination she launches herself into decay and death while in the process of a relentless verbal duel with the caustic and severe Charles.
The story is situated in an aquarium where Agnes finds herself powerless to prevent the death of her discus. Charles meanwhile, is a witness to this absurd scene and pronounces the death of the fish as indeed a fair thing. This provokes Agnes into accusing him of having a hand in its death, whereupon she collapses into a deathly and desperate ritual seemingly burying herself in the grave with her discus fish.
Charles realizing the hopeless state she is in grieves with her, despite his true feelings. Their reconciliation is however, short-lived as they fall out again with vengeance.
