James is CEO of an up-and-coming London law firm. Des’ father, the ‘Duke’, is CEO of the largest.

With the Duke about to retire, Des is set to inherit the company from her father.

When news leaks that James and Des are engaged, and of James’ plan to merge the companies and appoint himself as CEO of what will become one of the largest law firms in the country, The Duke refuses to step down.

A party has been planned where James and Des will publicly announce their engagement. Work has been put on hold.

That is until Rod, Ida’s newly appointed intern, accidentally picks up the phone to the Duke and learns that he is on his way back from New York to put an end to the engagement.

Appropriating the themes prevalent in the original text onto the sleepless streets of London’s City District, the characters are now modelled on those working in high-stake and high-pressure law firms, becoming a commentary on the ruthless and treacherous lives of the elite.

Set and staged in Corbet Place Bar, this area-specific, semi-immersive production happens in real-time over the course of one night.
