Editor's Brief: Heatwave winners

Editor's Brief: Heatwave winners

The lack of an actual heatwave this summer seemed to inspire you all to imagine what one might be like. As such we were inundated with 69 sizzlin’ hot entries. Here are the lucky winners…

First: Sarah Fishlock – On the Beach

“These images are a celebration of the unique, understated beauty of the UK's coastal towns. Britain’s beaches contain a special, quiet quirkiness that is absent from the crowded European resorts we flock to every summer. Too often, we overlook our own faded but nevertheless charming seaside locales, where you're more likely to find a old lady waiting for a bus than a bronzed beach goddess.”

Second: Isley Lynn – The Heat

Isley submitted a very short story. In classic Lynn style, all was not as it first appeared. “It looks at how someone might have ulterior motives for complaining about the British weather.”

Third: Lisa Kenney – Rocket Lollies

We loved Lisa’s entry. She says: “[Thought I'd try something new for this brief and came up with this; plasticine graffiti. Spray paint, bikinis and rocket lollies!” We’re a sucker for rocket lollies. Even plasticine ones.
