Video: Charlie Russell
We have a chat with documentary filmmaker Charlie Russell about Beryl's Last Year, the film that kick-started his career...
Charlie Russell is a documentary filmmaker. His past credits include Terry Pratchett: Living with Alzheimer's (which won a BAFTA Scotland award), Looking For Dad, Cutting Edge: Leaving Home at Eight and The Last Nazis: Most Wanted.
Here, he talks about his documentary Beryl's Last Year, which followed his late grandmother, the author Beryl Bainbridge, in her 71st year. Bainbridge believed it would be her last year, because her parents both died at the age of 71. It was the film that kick-started Charlie's career, and led to many more commissions for the BBC and Channel 4.
