Sitting in front of a blank page can be extremely daunting, so if you are looking for a place to start then you could try breaking your statement up into four paragraphs, addressing the below questions in each paragraph. Try to be concise and also try to show some personality in your application.
The below is only a rough guide, so feel free to move things around as you wish.
1. What are my interests?
i.
How often do you do the interest?
ii.
Where do you do the interest?
iii.
Is it for fun, to keep fit, for a club?
iv.
My evidence - What evidence do you have to
prove your 'Interests' (e.g. Certificates, Medals, Newspaper articles, Coach's
report, witness statement, photographs).
2. What skills do I have?
i.
Examples of your skills (e.g. use a mobile
phone, read a map).
ii.
Rate your skills - for each skill listed
give a mark of 'Excellent', 'Good' or 'Could improve'.
3. What are my Personal Qualities?
A useful exercise to help you determine what your personal qualities are is to list four words that you think describe yourself and then to state an example for
each (e.g. I am caring - I look after my pets). Once you understand what your personal qualities are you can flesh out the paragraph.
4. Reasons for applying to the 24 Hour plays
i. What do you plan to bring to
the 24 Hour Plays
ii. What would you like to take
away from the 24 Hour Plays
