CoDa Dance is a London-based all-female contemporary dance company which focusses on creating cutting-edge choreography and performances by blending intense physical theatre with contemporary dance, under the choreographic direction of Nikki Watson.
The company seeks to face taboos head on, challenging society’s altruistic status quo and questioning why we are perceived as selfish if we broach such prohibited subjects. Nikki comments on society with honest responses to the world in which she lives. She develops characters and movement through observation and investigation of people, shaping this into a form that emotionally engages with the viewer.
CoDa Dance was formed in 2010 by Nikki Watson and is extremely active, not only in choreography and performing, but also in providing people with opportunities to experience and enjoy dance, and also working with Multiple Sclerosis sufferers and raising awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and how it affects sufferers and those around them.
CoDa Dance Youth Company was formed in 2012, providing college and dance students with performance and development opportunities, and has created and performed two works to date.
