Hit The Ground

We are Hit The Ground. A brand spanking new theatre company created by Kes Gill-Martin and Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson and now joined by Emily Spetch.

Hit The Ground was created out of a shared urge and vision to make theatre. Theatre that unearths and tells the stories that need to be told.

We take risks.

We play.

We tell stories.

We are currently working towards the production of our first play 'A Tree', written by Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson.

‘A Tree’ is metaphysical ensemble storytelling theatre. Exploring 4 Worlds, 4 Stories, 4 altered Lives. Each story responds to and inhabits the 4 parts of a tree. As the lives & worlds of each character begin to fall away...they’re bound by one hidden question ‘How Can I Live?... How can we all Live?’

'A Tree' centres around 5 key characters, who move us from Kalib’s story rooted in present day South East London, all the way through to Blossom’s world of no trees, Forgotten Things and people who can no longer grow.

Our approach to 'A Tree' is real, honest and hyper real. Unafraid of going beyond and underneath to wake up all the senses through ensemble practice where we connect and collaborate through Art. Discovering and experimenting, but always Telling The Story.

The Project: This PitLab is the next stage of our development as we work towards our first full production, which will be: ‘A Tree’ by Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson.

At the Barbican we will be creating pieces of installation theatre in response to, and inspired by these worlds and stories. The week will involve direct interaction and collaboration between creative designers, us and a small group of performers as a full team.

We Are Looking For: Designers who like to work collaboratively, to explore and take risks. If this is something which excites you, get in touch! Please give details of relevant experience.
