Fat Git Theatre

Fat Git Theatre

Fat Git Theatre is a British theatre company that discovers new approaches to new writing. We work with adaptation, improvisation, devising processes and the brightest new writers around - occasionally ,we do all four at once. The aim - to create muscular, interesting, compelling work that's theatricaly bold and politically engaged. Fat Git was was formed in 2010 and since then has produced shows for the London Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe and local venues across the country.

What do we do?

In 2014 we're having a bumper year - WINKY, our hugely successful adaptation of George Saunders' satirical short story, will be returning to Soho Theatre in June and then heading up to Underbelly for the Edinburgh fesival. Our fourth festival in a row and we're hugely excited to be up in th burgh once more.

There's a new show headed your way by writer Joe White (Specie, Pangea) which will be showcased at the Labyrinth festival in Redbridge Drama Centre on the 25th June. We're then launching a residency at the Advanced Teaching and Learning centre in Warwick University, another opportunity we're gagging to get started on.

Who are we?

Fat Git Theatre Compant is a group actors, writers, musicians, designers and producers who collaborate to adapt or devise new work throughout the year (see the members of the group for a fairly comprehensive list).

The company was formed by Artistic Director Josh Roche, Writers' Centre Associate at Soho Theatre and associate director at nabokov theatre, and Rosie Spiegelhalter, lead producer, who has worked with Sonia Friedman Productions, Complicité, Slung Low, Motionhouse and a host of other funded companies.
