Evolve Theatre

I am currently looking for writers, actors, dancers, choreographers, directors, producers, costume designers and anyone who wants to get involved with an up and coming theatre company that wants to change theatre. We are called Evolve Theatre.

Evolve was established in 2010 to create challenging yet accessible small scale theatre for new and established audiences. With every performance we aim to create a world of theatre that asks questions, that is provocative and moves the audience. Theatre that pulls people in and allows them to believe totally and utterly in what they are seeing and stays with them long after they have left the auditorium. We believe passionately in the power of drama to draw attention to difficult issues.

I have begun writing a play called 'But He Loves Me'. It is based on a true story of a seventeen year old girl who endured two years of physical and emotional abuse from someone she loved with all her heart and couldn't bear to leave; her boyfriend. I have begun exploring a few different sides to the story, from not only the victim's point of view but also from the abuser's point of view. The scripts aren't finalised as it is very much still a work in progress but I have a huge amount of ideas that I would love to get working on. I really want to raise awareness of this appalling crime which often goes unreported as many victims are too afraid to speak out.
