I found the Calder Bookshop & Theatre on the Cut (opposite the Young Vic Theatre) a good value for money.

It's £6/h day time and £10/h evening and weekends.

It's central and cheap because the downstairs space hasn't been fully refurbished yet. But it's fine for short term use and people there are nice.

If it's still too expenssive, I suggest to chat with pubs wherever you would like to rehearse as they have often upstairs space available during day time and are ready to fill them as long as your actors and staff buy a few coffees or drinks. Sometimes, they'll sub-hire it for cheap too.
