A great question re the financial commitment. We are all told during training to avoid agents that ask for upfront fees and I would agree wholeheartedly with this, however, when joining a co-op you are actually buying into a business, in which you play a majorly active role.
The financial commitment is a fee of £100 at the start of your three-month trial, to cover your training. On acceptance members make a £100 investment which is refundable on your departure from ACT.
With regard to rates, as a co-operative, they are lower than those charged by conventional agents.
For live performance: 10%
For recorded media: 12.5%
We also operate a sliding scale to account for lower paying jobs.
Needless to say when you are working on an acting project and paying commission you are not expected to do your office days.
