Thanks for this. I discovered a film with a similar plot to the screenplay that I'm currently working on literally a day before I'd finished my prep. It threw me at first, then I read the other screenplay and realised that the focus is very different, as is the tone - frankly, it's a pretty bad film and one that is trying to do something quite different to what I'm aiming for. I'm now mired in the writing process and confident that I'm creating something that will stand alone.

Think of it this way: if you gave thirty writers the same logline, you would still end up with thirty very different films.
