I agree with you whole heartedly and being from a family with not much money I've been told many times of the importance of having a 'job on the side'
The only thing that worries me is the fact that some employers won't be flexible and allow you to do long runs of shows. I'm worried that as an actor you may have no choice but to quit jobs to be able to do shows. How do you manage if this is the case ??

Its also important for an actor or writer to be able to do that.
