6fc3c1d5-ea9b-49e9-bbab-a2e3005823deA couple other obvious but key things are; minimal locations, minimal characters (and if possible avoid crowd scenes as this requires additional crew and therefore additional costs). Keep locations within a mile radius to avoid moving too far between scenes. Think about how one location can be double up - if you turn the camera around and shoot the other way, could this look like a totally different place?
if you're developing a low budget feature, then this is a very useful resource about development, cost drivers etc, and highlights a number of key low-budget films and how they managed to shoot on a shoestring without compromising the story. very good for researching how other people have done it before you

an interesting idea is to talk through the shooting script with your editor, they often know what things may not work in a completed film and will stop you spending money and shooting them rather than them ending up on the cutting room floor.
