This sounds like a great idea. Although you'll have to employ someone called Geoff to keep you all in line, like Byker.

cf6022af-3c1e-4cfd-af0d-9ead00a60a9fHi Solomon, yep I agree we need to find people first who maybe interested in this. The idea you suggest of people using the space at different times is good but I personally would need a space which was mine i.e I would want my own desk and work stuff there and wouldn't really want someone else using that directly. I would however be happy to share an actual space as long as I had my bit (and I only need a little bit..) I will ask around some friends I know who work for themselves and see if anyone would be interested in this.

0e3d48c3-0658-466d-af74-9eac0169bc6cJanineb I'm not far from Hackney, I think we'dd need at least 5 people to get anything properly started before thinking about space etc.
Also I'd be looking at a space to use only 1-2 days/week so I wonder if we might even timetable a group of people who wanted to use space in combination of full and part time..?

af5851ff-7815-4cb5-9a1b-9eaa011d943fIm so glad I have just read this article....after a day where I have literally spun around my flat like a wind up toy unable to actually function or concentrate on anything for more than a minute, before attempting to start something else, reading this came as a breath of fresh and a calming air. Im sure for the majority of people it is the cost of getting a studio space that prevents them from doing so. The idea of finding a space between a group sounds smashing to me. Is there anyone who is based in Hackney or east london in general? Does anyone know of any spaces?........

e1df4227-91dd-4da3-b675-9eaa0084d604I had exactly the same idea. A group of people pooling together could buy a very awesome collective work-space. I'm sure people are already doing it. The only issue (for me) would be the whole thing turning into a social club rather than an office, but I'm sure that could be worked out. And in addition to the benefits you've listed Solomon, it'd be a great place to share opportunities and events.

a4bd8fdc-3036-4ca1-93e1-9ea90151801eYup!
This was like music to my ears Nicola. I have a theory that if, on a given weekday, by midday you are yet to have a conversation with another human being (animals don't count), then you can pretty much flush your social skills down the toilet for the rest of that day.
How about this for an idea for Ideastap: communal office/work space. A group of, say, 5-10 people all club together on the rent for a cheap space somewhere? We could revel in the joys of freelancery, whilst enjoying a little chit-chat with like minded folk - and simultaneously keeping oneanothers caffeine addictions in check?
Anyone up for helping make this happen?
